Beaver Creek Cycle Rider Spotlight
Rich Atherton
We are kicking off 2026 with a true original — BCC Spotlight Rider Rich Atherton, 60 years young and riding with the kind of passion that never goes out of style. We are proud to call Rich a part of the BCC family. If you know him, you already know: his heart leads the way. He is the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation, no questions asked.
Rich has been trail riding since he was just 15 years old, building decades of memories in the woods long before racing ever entered the picture. It was not until age 40 that his boys convinced him to line up at the gate and race with the CRA. What began as a family nudge turned into a new chapter — one fueled by competition, camaraderie, and a shared love of the sport.
His favorite place to ride and race is Stateline Farm, a track that feels like home and holds countless memories made on two wheels. Rich is quick to say that dirt bike life does not come cheap. It takes hard work, overtime, and unwavering dedication to make it all possible. Still, he would not trade a single moment spent at the track with his family for anything. Those memories are the real wins. Having a son who earns overall victories? That is just the cherry on top.
As we step into the new year, Rich offers advice that feels equal parts wisdom and rally cry:
“Grip it before it’s gone — no regrets.”
And honestly, that pretty much says it all.

“Grip it before it’s gone — no regrets.”
